Adult Mental Health Services in Ashford
Ashford Community Mental Health Team
Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) provide services to people living in the community aged between 16 and 65 who are experiencing mental health problems.
Referrals to the CMHTs are usually made directly through a GP.
The intake element of a CMHT acts as a single point of access for all referrals to mental health services that we provide.
If you are referred to a team they will assess you, signpost and offer short-term treatment as close as possible to your home.
Your support package may include a personal budget to give you more choice and control over how some of your needs are met. For more information about personal budgets visit the Live it Well website.
Teams are made up of social workers; community psychiatric nurses; occupational therapists; technical instructors; Support Time and Recovery Workers; consultant psychiatrists; clinical psychologists and medical staff and administration and secretarial staff.

Rehabilitation Service
Rehabilitation Services aim to prepare patients to become independent and live fulfilling lives in the local community. Inpatient units are staffed on a 24 hour basis. These provide care to people with severe and enduring mental illness who are judged to be too unwell or chaotic to tolerate the environment of a residential placement in the community.
We also have a vocational rehabilitation service providing vocational opportunities for people with severe and enduring mental health problems to have gainful work opportunities in a supportive environment.
