Our aims

We believe that if you come to us for support and treatment you are trying to cope with difficult issues and may feel out of control in your life. The eating disorder can sometimes feel like a solution to these difficulties.

We aim to work in alliance with you, your family and those who support you to enable you to increase your understanding of the role that the eating disorder plays in your life. We recognise that the eating disorder is the problem, not the person and that our role is to support you in your fight against the eating disorder.

The support and treatment we offer aims to address physical, psychological and social needs with the emphasis on achieving an optimum quality of life.

Referrals

We can accept referrals of those aged 18 upwards from qualified mental health professionals working within secondary care.

In east Kent, Medway and in the Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley area, our Primary Care Liaison Nurses can accept referrals of patients directly from primary care, aged 14 upwards who have recent onset eating disorders or difficulties, for early intervention. However, in most cases people are referred to us after having met with a clinician from their local community mental health or intake team.
