Kent Clinical Neuropsychology Service

Our Kent-wide service provides neuropsychological assessment and community-based neuropsychological rehabilitation to people aged 18 years and above who are living in their own home or in a residential setting. We are all registered clinical psychologists with expertise in brain injury and neurological conditions. We offer appointments at many different locations across Kent, depending on where the person is living.

Neuropsychologists in our service support people with acquired brain injury (including stroke) and long-term neurological conditions in the following ways:

  • Assessment of cognitive abilities (also known as thinking skills such as memory, concentration, decision making)
  • Provision of cognitive rehabilitation strategies to support cognitive difficulties and encourage independence
  • Psychological support to aid adjustment to your diagnosis
  • Psychological support to aid symptom management
  • Advice regarding possible return to work
  • Advice to colleagues regarding the management of cognitive, behavioural and personality changes following a neurological change
  • Working with families to help them understand and manage severe cognitive and behavioural changes in their loved one.

We often work closely with our medical and neurorehabilitation team colleagues such as neurologists, neuropsychiatrists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, specialist nurses, speech and language therapists and dieticians.
