We have a highly commended research team and encourage our staff and patients to become involved in research projects to help improve services nationally within mental health, dementias and neurodegeneration.
We are one of four mental health trusts in the UK piloting Open Dialogue, an innovative and forward thinking initiative from Finland.
We are funded by the National Institute of Health Research NIHR) and are part of the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Clinical Research Network (KSSCRN).

In 2014 our staff survey results showed that more people than ever were feeling valued. Communication between management and staff was effective and training in order to help staff provide an improved patient experience was highly valued. You can be assured you will be joining a supportive team.
KMPT is the largest mental health provider in Kent employing over 3,600 people. We are proud to tell you about our award winning staff and Trust projects. In 2015 we reached the final stages for four awards.
Our Forensic and Specialist Service staff won an award for the Lakeside Lounge initiative from the National Positive Practice in Mental Health awards. Lakeside Lounge provides service users with the opportunity to learn new skills and gain vocational experience whilst on their recovery journey.
We work collaboratively in Kent and two members of staff were nominated for Kent, Sussex and Surrey Leadership Collaborative Awards for Patient Champion of the Year and Inclusivity Leader of the Year.
Our dedicated A&E alcohol service also reached the final stages of the Nursing Times Award for their tremendous work.
