Interpreting and translation services

It is very important to us that all people should have equal access to our services, and receive consistent care throughout their time with us.

Part of this is ensuring that the services provided are appropriate and accessible to those whose first language is not English and also includes those who have a sensory impairment or learning disability.

The Trust has a contract with suppliersĀ to provide interpreters for patients who speak other languages which areĀ free to our patients.

This includes British Sign Language interpreters, lip-speakers, speech-to-text reporters and deaf-blind interpreters.

Requesting an interpreter

If you need an interpreter for your appointment, please let the service know and they will make the arrangements for you. The service will need notice to arrange this, so please inform them as soon as you receive your appointment date, although every effort will be made to help in an emergency.

Requesting information in a different format

If you would like information such as leaflets or publications in a different language or format, please contact our communications team on 01622 724 131 or make the request using our online form (please select the query subject as 'general enquiries').
