Penshurst Ward

Penshurst ward is a 16 bed inpatient unit catering for men between the ages of 18-65 specialising in the assessment and treatment of those with complex mental health needs who require care in a medium secure unit, as a response to offending/or challenging behaviour.

Our vision is to improve the patient experience, promote physical well being, as well as supporting our patients through recovery and discharge. We strive to provide a calm, safe and friendly atmosphere and maintain a clean and pleasant environment on the ward for staff, patients and visitors.

The ward consists of a multi-disciplinary team of health care assistants, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, junior doctors and consultants. Patients will also be offered therapeutic activities by the occupational therapy team and be reviewed by the consultant during the weekly ward review.

Family Engagement and Liaison Lead

The Family Engagement and Liaison Lead (FELL) works specifically with the families and friends of someone who is being assessed or treated by forensic mental health and learning disability services.

The Family Engagement and Liaison Lead will be able to offer you advice, support and information. Part of the role will be to meet up and give you time to talk about your own concerns and questions, throughout your relative or friends recovery.

You can also join us for regular catch-ups with tea and cake which we hold throughout the year.
