Join us in saying a huge congratulations to our fantastic Liaison, Diversion & Reconnect (LDR) team who recently won the ‘Veteran Recognition Awards 2025’ for their outstanding dedication and support to the ex-military community in Kent.

The LDR team make a positive difference by providing, an ‘all vulnerability’ screening, and assessment for individuals of all ages within the criminal justice system, both in police custody and prison leavers. By working in partnership with the police, the courts, probation, youth offending teams, drug and alcohol services, primary care, mental health services, education, housing etc they are able to offer coordinated and timely support. This approach ensures people receive the right help when they need it most, effectively breaking the cycle of offending.

The commitment and dedication of LDR Practitioner, and Veteran Advocate Andy Sharp – who proudly accepted the award on behalf of the LDR team – has ensured that he has maintained a 0% reoffending rate for those veterans who have fully engaged with him as opposed to the national rate of 26%.

We are delighted that NHS commissioners have recently funded the Liaison, Diversion and Reconnect service to expand Andy’s role to be a veterans’ advocate.

Veteran Andy Sharp shared, “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the LDR team. It is vital that we support our veterans at all stages of their lives, and particularly as they transition back into civilian life. We are proud to help our veterans in a multitude of areas including difficulty in finding a job or accommodation, social isolation, money and relationship challenges and alcohol, drug or gambling issues. This award is testament to the valuable work our team does to support our veterans and I am very proud of the whole team.”

Congratulations to the LDR team on your remarkable achievement! Your dedication is vital in improving the outcomes for those who find themselves in the criminal justice system. Everyone at KMPT is truly proud of your outstanding achievement and the positive impact you’re making in our community.
