Rethink Canterbury and Coastal

Rethink Canterbury and Coastal carer' support groups help people to come together to share experiences, support each other and many become involved in campaigning.

The has been set up to help carers of relatives, partners or friends with a wide variety of mental health issues to access help and information and to provide comfort and support on a regular basis.

They can help in several ways:

  • By enabling you to meet people with the same sort of problems that you may come across
  • By informal group discussions that may provide valuable information
  • By occasionally hearing guest speakers
  • By putting you in touch with carers with direct experience of living with people with mental illness

What they can offer:

  • Telephone support
  • Monthly newsletter
  • Monthly meetings
  • Guest speakers about mental health
  • National and local campaigning for improved mental health services
  • Carer representation on local planning and monitoring groups
  • Talks
  • Social events
  • Participation in local relevant activities

The groups meet on the third Tuesday of each month (except August) from 7.30pm at the Canterbury Umbrella Centre, St Peters Place, Canterbury, Kent CT1 2DB
