Carers Rights Day 2017

Carers Rights Day is on Friday 24 November 2017 and there are a number of activities and events being held across Kent to help carers in their local community know their rights and find out how to get the help and support they are entitled to.

Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley

Carers FIRST will be attending the Alzheimers and Dementia Support Service dementia information event on 20 November, 10am — 4pm, at SafeHarbour, Cold Harbour Road, Northfleet, DA11 8AE.

Advice about rewarding career choices alongside ‘bite-sized’ awareness sessions about Dementia.

There will be speakers from:

Maidstone

Involve Carers’ have various information events taking place on 24 November.

There will be an information stand at Maidstone Hospital Reception from 9am to 5pm and at Fremlin Walk in Maidstone between 10am to 4pm.

A Carers’ Drop will be at the Involve Hub, the Mall Shopping Centre, Maidstone, the hub is by the bus station. The drop in will run from 10am to 4pm. This is a drop in for carers to find out information to support them in their caring role from Involve Carers. Connect with other Carers and find out about their rights.

Medway

Carers FIRST are holding a carers event on 24 November, 1oam - 2.30pm at Gillingham Golf Club, Woodlands Road, Gillingham, Kent, ME7 2AP.

The day will consist of:

• Opportunities to talk to health researchers about their experiences
• Opportunities to talk to carers support staff about any concerns that they may have
• A range of information will be available throughout the day
• An Indian head massage and other therapies
• Buffet lunch will be provided

Carers FIRST are holding a social tea and cake morning for carers on 24 November, from 10.30am -12pm at the Notcutts Garden Centre, Tonbridge Road, Pembury, Tunbridge Wells, TN2 4QN.

Thanet

Carers' Support (Canterbury, Dover and Thanet) are holding an information event for carers on Carers rights and finances on Friday 24 November 2017, 10am until 2pm.

The event will take place at Wayfarers Care Home, St Bart's Road, Sandwich, Kent, CT13 0AW.

The day will involve a range of professionals providing information and/or workshops on a variety of subjects such as scams, employment, Power of Attorney, Care Fees Guidance and the right to a carer's assessment.
