Industrial action by junior doctors

Date added: 13 June 2023

The British Medical Association has announced that junior doctors will take part in a 72-hour strike from 7am on Wednesday 14 June to 6:59am on Saturday 17 June. This could include KMPT junior doctors.

We expect that our plans will be sufficient to minimise the disruption to our services and our focus remains on ensuring the safe provision of mental health care during this period.

However, as the full picture will not emerge until the days of the strike, we have robust contingency plans in place to make sure you can access the care and services you need.

If your appointment is affected by the strike on any of the days you will be contacted in advance. Your appointment will be rescheduled as quickly as possible.

If you do not hear from us, please attend any appointments that you have as normal

We hope that the industrial dispute is resolved as soon as possible, but apologise in the meantime for any disruption it may cause.

Who to contact if you need help

The Kent and Medway Mental Health Crisis telephone service is available to people in Kent and Medway, not currently receiving care or treatment from KMPT, who need urgent advice about their mental health, or the mental health of a friend or relative.

You can reach this service by dialling 111 and pressing option 2 when it is offered to you. There will be someone to answer your call at any time of the day or night, any day of the week. You do not need an appointment and all calls are free.

You will speak to someone who is experienced in working with people who need support with their mental health. Depending on your circumstances they can offer:

  • advice
  • reassurance
  • signposting to other services

If you are currently receiving care from KMPT please do not call 111. Please continue to contact us by ringing 0800 783 9111 or contact the service you are receiving treatment from.

Please remember that we are not an emergency service. If anyone has harmed themselves or is at risk of serious harm then please immediately call 999.
