Simon Greenhill is our new LGBTQ++ Chair at KMPT. We caught up with him to find out more about his passion for supporting LGBTQ++ communities and what he is looking forward to in his new role.

What is your role at KMPT?

I have been working as a Business Administration Coordinator in the Trevor Gibbons Unit for 2 years. It’s an incredibly interesting role and has enabled me to see the focus we are placing on creating an inclusive culture.

Tell us a bit about your previous experience?

I have worked with LGBTQ++ groups before, both creating and established support groups. I enjoy being the person for people to contact both within and outside of the group and it really helps to build trust and identify the issues people are most concerned about.

As a proud member of the LGBTQ++ community, it’s a personal passion for me to be able to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone and I really hope to be able to work to do that here too.

What are you most looking forward to in your role as chair of the LGBTQ++ network?

I am hoping to increase the visibility of the network in KMPT so we can encourage more membership as well as promote the events we are planning for 2023. I am excited about how we provide a vibrant and experience to help educate and encourage participation across the whole trust.

I want everyone to be able to see the group as a non-judgmental and safe space, where we can demonstrate how pride can appear through our work while supporting us to always be our true selves.

How can people find out more and get involved?

We really need to get everyone involved! From our allies who will help support LGBTQ++ colleagues, to our executive colleagues as well as people who are purely interested in joining the group and becoming more involved around planning events, speaking up and helping to shape our LGBTQ++ community.
