KMPT Director shortlisted for HSJ Award

Date: 13 September 2017

A senior executive with Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

The Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards are the largest awards programme of its type in the world and recognise healthcare excellence and innovation. The Awards received over 1,500 nominations this year.

Mary Mumvuri, Executive Director of Nursing & Governance is shortlisted as HSJ’s  ‘Clinical Leader of the Year’.

This category recognises exceptional NHS clinical leaders who make a difference to patients’ lives and Mary is one of only 10 nominees shortlisted from across the UK.

Mary’s initiative, leadership and drive was instrumental in KMPT being rated ‘Outstanding ’for Caring and ‘Good’ overall by the Care Quality Commission in April 2017. The 2017 CQC inspection stated: “We were told by staff at all levels of the trust that the new board structure, including the new Director of Nursing, had led to substantial and positive change within the trust.”

Mary said:

“I’m delighted with my shortlisting as Clinical Leader of the Year. I’m passionate about making sure that staff at all levels have a voice and are developed and supported to deliver high quality care. I’m so proud of what the trust has achieved this year and look forward to celebrating with my fellow nominees in November.”

Mary joined KMPT in March 2016 and her first step was to revise and re-prioritise work in the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) for the trust, which was developed after the Care Quality Commission visit in March 2015.

Winners will be announced at an awards event held in November at the Riverside InterContinental Hotel in London.
