Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) has received national recognition at the inaugural Public Sector UK Paperless Awards, hosted by comedian Ed Byrne.

The awards hosted by Gov News Direct recognise, celebrate and reward exceptional progress towards the goal of becoming a paperless environment.

The trust’s Electronic Discharge Notification Project’ (EDN) was one of five finalists from across the UK in the 'Paperless Project of the Year' category and won the main sponsor prize from the company, Wacom Clipboard.

The EDN Project deposits information about a patient’s hospital care into the GP’s patient record system and has significantly improved both patient experience and care quality.

As the winner of the sponsor prize the trust will receive £5,000 of information technology equipment from Wacom Clipboard.

Director of IT, Les Manley, said:

“We are delighted that the team’s hard work has won national recognition and we are looking forward to trying out the new electronic clipboards generously donated by Wacom.”

Mark Hoole, Public Sector Specialist, Wacom said:

“Congratulations to the trust for winning our sponsor prize and we look forward to working with the team.”

The EDN was shortlisted along with four others (CPS; Peaks & Plains Housing Trust; South London Legal Partnership and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority).

In April 2017 the trust was rated ‘outstanding’ for caring and ‘good’ overall by the CQC.
