Perinatal training

First steps

This is a one day training open to all professionals working with women and children, to improve awareness of mental ill health in parents and the impact on families and to improve understanding of the referral pathways.

Perinatal simulation training

This one day training event consists of simulated scenarios which focus on the assessment and management of three different perinatal mental health presentations. After each simulation, the participants will be debriefed so they are able to learn positively and constructively from the experience.

Participants will be able to experience the various challenges faced when seeing women in different environments, as well as working with various professionals to further their understanding of such challenges, giving them the confidence to be able to deal with them in the future.

All training will take place from 9am-4:30pm at The Simulation Suite, Postgraduate Centre, Medway Maritime Hospital, Windmill Road, Gillingham ME7 5NY.

Free training sessions

The Perinatal Mental Health Community Service (PMHCS) would like to invite you to a FREE training session run with other health and social care professionals at the Medway Maritime Hospital.

Participants will work through three simulated scenarios focusing on the assessment and management of different perinatal mental health presentations, followed by a full debrief.
