Catherine Kinane elected as Divisional Chair at the RCPSYCH
Date: 13 July 2017
A senior executive at the trust has been elected as Divisional Chair at the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Professor Catherine Kinane, Executive Medical Director for the trust which secured a ‘Good’ overall rating from the CQC in April, will lead and represent the South Eastern Division both within the College and externally. The role involves working closely with members to identify and support their needs.
The South Eastern Division has the largest membership of any College region with around 1700 members across a wide area including Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Professor Kinane’s appointment took effect at the College’s Edinburgh International Congress last month.
Catherine, who has worked for the trust since 2004, will hold the post for four years until 2021 and said: “I’m thrilled to have been elected Chair of the South Eastern Division and look forward to continuing its excellent work. There are very exciting challenges and opportunities ahead for our members.”
A spokesperson from the Royal College of Psychiatrists said, “We are delighted that Professor Catherine Kinane has been elected as the South Eastern Division Chair at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She will have a vital role in promoting the interests of psychiatrists, patients and carers in the south east. Engaging with our members is a priority, and we wish Catherine the best of luck in the role.”
Catherine’s new role follows her earlier appointment this year as a Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing at Canterbury Christ Church University.
